Re: NIS+

COULD ANYBODY REVISE MY REPLY AND ANSWER THE OPEN POINTS TO ERIK (AND ME)?

Hi Erik,

unfortunately, I cannot give you a definite answer, because I am still running
the debian boxes as individual workstations (currently only 4), although I
would like to have NIS+ too.

I was told, that NIS+ is included in glibc2.1, which is currently only
available as Beta software, and therefore _not_ included in Debian 2.0. I am
not sure about slink (will become Debian 2.1). But other arichtectures like
sparc have already glibc2.1 (more accurate the pre-replease 2.0.9....).

Hopefully a debian developer can answer us these questions.

Alternatively, I think a NIS+ server can be configured to serve NIS clients
too. I tried this in a former (bigger) linux cluster (but without this
compatibility mode NIS+ server).

Best regards.
