rc5des 2.7100 for hamm?

Hello,

Wouldn't it make sense to provide the latest distributed-net clients
for hamm? They keep impruving the code, the older code usually
becomes quite irrelevant once a newer release is out, the package is
not at all critical for operation of the system and the
distributed.net effort would recieve much more exposure if their
clients will be in a released version of Debian. The current clients
in hamm are going to be almost totally irrelevant on July 14th (?)
when the DES-II-2 contest starts.

If fulfilling this request is totally out of the question then what
about at least testting the new package under slink or
project/experimental and then provide it for hamm?

Please consider that the distributed-net clients are somewhat unusual
in their purpose (exploiting CPU power, rather then just "being there"
for the time a user needs them), so it might be justifiable to make an
exception for them. After all, the purpose of Debian is to provide
usable, stable, software package. Let's not forget this.

PS I'm not on the debian-devel list (yet) so please CC replys directly
to me.

Thanks,
