Re: Linux on CNet (off topic)
quote:
goal is to see if I can get to the point where I can work for a continuous period of a
month without:
major crashes
total insanity
having to memorize more than 500 pages of documentation
encountering a situation where I need to read a document written
by one of my colleagues on Mac or Windows and can't or where
something I send them can't be read by them
If I can do that, I think I will declare the experiment a success.
Along the way, I want to:
surf the Web
compose and FTP Web documents
write word processing documents
read word processing documents
send and receive email (hopefully with a decent, open and [dare I hope?] scriptable email
package
maybe write a few Java thingies to see how it all works
I will make Linux my day-to-day operating environment and only use
Windows or Mac if and when I'm forced to. If that happens, I'll
report it.
