Bug#19215: Acknowledgement (latex2html: don't write files to /var/www !)

Hi,

This is a server specific solution; I can't keep up with all
the servers out there, and thay all do things differently. A general
 solution is preferred.

Andreas> b) move the icons to /usr/doc, change the rpogram to reflect that,

Umm. I think a symlink is / is worse than the current solution.

I think that adding stuff in / like this should require a
 discussion in debian-policy.

Yes. I prefer though, to have it work in both places, so that
one may test locally with lynx ./blah and then move the files to
 /var/www if they translated well.

Andreas> cgi-bin's also don't work when you view html docs with file:,
Andreas> so why should icons always work ?

Because these icons are inegral to judging how well LaTeX2HTML
worked; and, anyway, if I could make CGI's work outside the server
 for local testing I would.

The idea is to make things more transparent, not less, IMHO.

Please raise this in the debian-policy list, if you feel
 strongly enough about it.

I have, really, but that did not change my mind, sorry.
