packaging ocaml ...

Hello, ...

i am not (yet) package maintainer, but i did package Objective Caml 1.07.

there was already an 1.05 package in non-free, maintained by Christophe le Bars (clebars@debian.org) but the new version has some changed licence who is copatible with debian, and i think it is now possible to but it in main. (is it to late for hamm ? or do i still have some time.)

The package build and run just fine, coming with nice configure and makefile scripts, so there was no major problem in doing the package. also Christophe didn't seem to have encountered any major problems from what i have seen.

The problem is that i am not maintainer, i cannot upload it, and since i had some problem with pgp-i (for linux-m68k) i was not able to request to become one.

So my question is :

do anyone know how to join Christophe Le Bars, i wrote to him almost a month ago, and received no answer.is he still active and working on that package. if yes i would happily give im what i did, so it can get inside the package without problem.

If not, i volunteer to maintining this package (as soon as i become officialy aintainter), but in the mean time is there someone who wants to have a look at the package, compile it for i386, and put it in the archive before the freeze (march 20, true ?).
Like i said there is no major problem with it, so it should go smoothly.

(bye the way how can i test the architecture i am running on in debian/rules. there is some target who don't compile on m68k architecture so i have to make them conditionnaly)

Thanks, ...

(I think, it is good that this package go in 2.0, since they changed the license after someone complained in their mailing list that the previous one was not compatible with debian)

Friendly,

Sven LUTHER
