Installing bash 2.0 makes "man" lock up.

After installing bash 2.0, trying to read a man page locks up.  I get:

  $ man test
  Reformatting test(1), please wait... 

And then the process hangs.  Anyone else have this problem?  Any ideas
what might be causing it?  Reverting to bash 1.4 fixes the problem.
