dupload 1.16 - strange behavior

hello:

today i've had some strange problems while using dupload 1.16:

  $ dupload -t master
  [... 2 files uploaded okay... and then....]
  ###################Failure on 'STOR gnuplot_3.5beta6.336-0bo2.tar.gz'
  command, ok (1022 s, 1.04 kB/s)
  gnuplot_3.5beta6.336-0bo2_i386.changes 1.4 kB
  warning: dupload: Can't upload gnuplot_3.5beta6.336-0bo2_i386.changes
  main::fatal('Can\'t upload gnuplot_3.5beta6.336-0bo2_i386.changes^J')
  called at /usr/bin/dupload line 331
  $

and the file "gnuplot_3.5beta6.336-0bo2.tar.gz" _wasn't_ created on
master, although it was marked as "ok" by dupload (i had to ftp it to
master manually)...

similar problem appeared later with .changes file, only this time
dupload hasn't marked it "ok" but exited directly (as expected):

  $ dupload -t master
  [...]
  [ Uploading job gnuplot_3.5beta6.336-0bo2_i386
  gnuplot_3.5beta6.336-0bo2_i386.changes 1.4 kB #Failure on 'STOR
  gnuplot_3.5beta6.336-0bo2_i386.changes' command
  warning: dupload: Can't upload gnuplot_3.5beta6.336-0bo2_i386.changes
  main::fatal('Can\'t upload gnuplot_3.5beta6.336-0bo2_i386.changes^J')
  called at /usr/bin/dupload line 331
  $

why dupload behaves differently in these two apparently identical
cases?

cheers
