Distribution up to dateness timestamp?

Hi,

The idea sort of wandered through my fevered brain that it would be handy
to have some sort of timestamped Packages file or something similiar, so
that one could easily check their distribution to see if it is 'current'
without downloading the whole Packages file, which is  getting pretty slow
over a 28.8.  I suppose this would be of more interest to people following
unstable, and maybe it's not worth the effort technically, but I though
I'd toss it out there anyway.  I hope it's not just the fever that makes
it make sense:-)
