Hello Manoj and others!
(Note to Manoj: I hope it is OK to mail you explicit - I think you are the
right one to ask this question, because you wrote kernel-package, didn't
you? Feel free to ignore me if I did false.)
I am up to unstable, and wanted to compile a custom kernel. The compile went
fine, but this is what gave me make-kpkg at the end of compiling:
[ 8< ]
install -m 644 .config \
debian/tmp-image/boot/config-2.0.29
cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage \
debian/tmp-image/boot/vmlinuz-2.0.29
chmod 644 debian/tmp-image/boot/vmlinuz-2.0.29
cp System.map debian/tmp-image/boot/System.map-2.0.29
chmod 644 debian/tmp-image/boot/System.map-2.0.29
dpkg-gencontrol -pkernel-image-2.0.29 -Pdebian/tmp-image/
no utmp entry available, using value of LOGNAME ("root") at
/usr/lib/dpkg/controllib.pl line 16.
parsechangelog/debian: error: unable to open substvars file
debian/substvars: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden
dpkg-gencontrol: error: syntax error in parsed version of changelog at line
0: empty file
make: *** [stamp-image] Error 29
"Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden" means: "file or dir not found"
I have following packages installed:
libc5 Version: 5.4.33-7
libc6 Version: 2.0.5c-0.1
libc6-dev Version: 2.0.5c-0.1
kernel-source Version: 1:2.0.29-8
dpkg-dev Version: 1.4.0.19
Anyone a hint?
Thank you,
Marcus
