dpkg-1.4.0.19 release candidate

I've recently started making some significant changes to the dpkg
internals and to the dpkg-* development tools to improve portability
and to better support a number of new features.

I expect a number of these changes to be potentially destabilizing (at
least in the short term), and I expect that it will be at least a
month or two before the code base stabilizes fully once these changes
have begun.

Therefore, I'd like to declare dpkg-1.4.0.19 an official release
candidate for inclusion into 'stable'. Would people be willing to try
out dpkg-1.4.0.19 from 'unstable' and test it for any last-minute
problems or shortcomings?

I'd also be interested in hearing of any 'must-have' revisions or
bug-fixes (including reminders of already-filed bugs) that are
(a) critical for inclusion in this next 'stable' release of dpkg, and
(b) manageable enough that they can be implemented in the 'stable'
release without themselves breaking things. E-mail me your comments
and suggestions privately and I'll be happy to summarize to the list.

Thanks,
 - Klee
