Sounds like a reasonable idea to me...I think your fixes are interfering
with ncurses's workaround.  :)

Seriously, I'm going to take a closer look at exactly WTH xterm is
doing, and what the terminfo entry wants to happen.  I need to get in
touch with the people working on keyboard configuration, so I can tailor
ncurses to match.  Of course, what I'd _really_ like to do is pass
ncurses on to somebody else entirely.  But nobody seems to want it.  I
wonder why?  :-P
