There are also i386-based Unices that can do iBCS.

Yeah, a very nice solution.  Although it's a little harder to
implement, because anyway this function requires some static storage.
Maybe we might use malloc, though.  But putting { } (blocks) in a
macro isn't possible, as far as I know.  We need { } anyway, regardles
of wether we use malloc.
