It's not a LILO problem, but one with BIOS. It doesn't happen to every
system. If you don't want it to happen to you, make sure the Linux kernel
is loaded from somewhere below cylinder 1024 on your "c" drive. You should
put your root filesystem under that limit, but it doesn't matter where you
put /usr.

Loadlin only works to boot Linux from real-mode DOS.
