smail-related error messages after recent upgrade to bo

Hi.

Anyone seen messages like these?

	/usr/sbin/sendmail: can't map '/lib/libc.so.5'
	/usr/sbin/sendmail: can't map '/lib/libc.so.5'
	/usr/sbin/sendmail: can't load library 'libc.so.5'

I've seen them twice or three times in the last few weeks (since 
switching from stable to bo).  I have smail installed, but I don't send 
and receive much email on this (home) machine.
