i have written a new /etc/devinfo file for makedev from "Linux Allocated
Devices" 2.0.30 and 2.1.31 (linux/Documentation/devices.t*), because i
need bugfixes for a new release of isdnutils), and mailed a long patch
to bruce. with my new /etc/devinfo configuration you get 1100 devices
(the normal has ca. 600), but thats only +11 k (at least in my ext2fs).
maybe you want to add at least some of the missing devices to base and
boot of 1997-04-04 :

importand are only the *cd devices (if they are supported):
aztcd, bpcd, cm205cd, cm206cd, gscd, hitcd, mcd, optcd, sjcd.
on the device disk i found:

so you will need these devices (current devinfo cannot create all
devices, eg. gscd). i cant check the root device now (i first need to
reboot with to 2.0.30 so i have a loop device), perhabs someone can
check, that all device files are presend ? at least gscd will be
missing, i suggest.
