SoundBlaster, bash 2.0 and breaking kernel compile for soundcard

I know I've seen this posted here: what's the cure to enable me to include
SoundBlaster sound in 2.0.29 - bash 2.0 breaks the compile script AFAIK
giving the message "no help available for this option"and someone posted
the fix here.
