Is this a bug with dpkg-ftp

I have recently got this message multiple times when I have run dpkg-ftp.
Getting Packages files...(stop with ^C)

Connecting to ftp.debian.org...
Login as anonymous...
Setting transfer mode to binary...
Cd to /debian...
Getting Packages file from unstable/binary-i386...
Net::FTP: Unexpected EOF on command channel at
/usr/lib/dpkg/methods/ftp/update
line 77
Couldn't find Packages[.gz] in unstable/binary-i386, stoppedFTP ERROR

update available list script was terminated by a signal: Broken pipe.
Press RETURN to continue.

I am running dpkg 1.4.0.5 and I think dpkg-ftp 1.4.7, is this a known bug
or have I screwed something up.
