I use open together with dynamic-vc to implement a sort of terminal-based
full-screen windowing system (as I can't use X). I do something like
$ open -s -- <command> <args>
(shortened by a shell script :-) ). In this case it's pine with no
arguments.
I've been using this for over a year, and run almost everything I use in
this fashion. For all of that time, I've been using a previous version
of pine (I think it was 3.91 or something ...) with no problem.
