Bug#2605: #1233,#1793 (ifrench doesn't work...)

I keep having the problem described for both ifrench (#1233) and igerman
(#1793):
$ ispell -d french gary.fr.iso.txt
Illegal format hash table /usr/lib/ispell/french.hash - expected magic2 0x9602, got 0xc9
Indeed, the french.hash table looks 7bit'ish ("E'" etc instead the 8 bit
counterpart). So I suspect the problem lies there, although ispell later
version (I have International Ispell Version 3.1.18 01/14/95, from
ispell-3.1.18-2.deb package) should be able to still work with older tables.
Where can I find newer 8bit hash tables?
