Believe it or not; this looks like a bug in dpkg. I did the
following, all of which executed without error:
mkdir -p tmp/DEBIAN
dpkg-deb -x kernel-source-2.0.23_0.deb tmp
dpkg-deb -e kernel-source-2.0.23_0.deb tmp/DEBIAN
dpkg-deb -b tmp tryagain.deb
But then `dpkg -i tryagain.deb' fails! Ian?
