It wont work for Browsers that run under Windows / other operating
systems. You may equip those browsers with gzip but I certainly wont go
through that trouble for all machines on campus.

I suggest either:

1. We do not compress HTML pages

or

2. The webservers must be equipped to handle unzipping when serving
documents.
