No, I don't defend it, but since I'm not the author of dpkg, and I'm not
sure about dependencies (perhaps dselect depends on void return codes
...), and my spare time is too limited to dive deeper into the sources,
and after all it doesn't seem to be a simple fix ... understand?

: codes should be considered broken in this regard. It would be nice if dpkg

It should remain filed as a bug, waiting for Ians return ...
