Bug#4132: Could popclient be changed to just read the passwd from stdio?
Package: netstd
Version: 2.06-1
This is not strictly a bug, but a request...
Right now popclient insists on reading the password from /dev/tty.
This means that you have to keep your password on disk if you want to
have popclient get your mail periodically. It would be much more
flexible if it just read from stdio. Perhaps there's a security
reason not to do this, but if so, could an option be added that would
allow it to read from stdio "--stdiopass" or something?
It would allow the creation of something like mailcrypt or auto-pgp's
handling of the password, and would just be more flexible in general.
I'll volunteer to write the patch if this is an OK idea.
Thanks
