Status of /usr/X11

I had a /usr/X11 link that pointed to /usr/X11R6 on my system.  It
must have been installed by some package (or perhaps the Moo-tiff
distribution).  In any case, it was causing trouble with "man -k".
After someone pointed out that they didn't have it, I assumed it was
a historical artifact and deleted it.  That fixed the problem.

But when I went to compile a new gimp package, the compile failed
because I had explicitly mentioned /usr/X11/... to get the Motif
static lib.  So I just wanted to check, Is the /usr/X11 link part of
Debian?  i.e. will a newly installed 1.1 system have it?  If not, I
better double-check my other packages.
