one or more of the maintainers of the essential base
packages have "Depends: kernel-image".
This may work, as far as installation goes, espescially if we
use pre-depends or the like. I am not very comfortable with removing
the essentials flag, however, since a naive user can then render the
system inoperable (I have just been told by a colleague that that
that is the essence of a good tool: it is powerful and flexible
enough for you to shoot yourself in the foot with).
Hmm, is the essentials flag molly-coddling?
