Bug#2946: Lynx gives fatal error message

I started Lynx, and it loaded its homepage and displayed the "you have mail"
message, but then when I hit "g" to enter a URL no response was received. It
then gave an error message to the effect that a fatal error had occured which
I should report. Lynx terminated on signal 11. I have a core file if that is
of any use for tracing the problem.
The homepage was chiark's default home page (http://chiark.chu.cam.ac.uk/).
