If so, then my Motif shared/static app approach was flawed. It would produce two different .deb files providing the same (non-virtual) package. Am I correct in deciding that this is a no-no? If so, then (as Rob Leslie suggested) I suppose I should have two packages gimp-smotif and gimp-dmotif both providing and conflicting with the virtual package gimp. Is this the right idea?
