1.3.75 and scsi devices

I got the source to the 1.3.75 kernel last night. I compiled out of the
box just fine. In fact, the scsi modules that gave unsatisfied externals
under 1.3.57 seem to link in fine, but when I go to mount my cdrom drive
(this has worked for every earier kernel) I get the error: /dev/scd0 is
not a block device.
Lsmod looks like:

Module: #pages: Used by:
msdos 2	1
fat 6	[msdos]	1
isofs 5	0
aha1542 2	0
scsi_mod 7	[aha1542]	1
ppp 5	1
slhc 2	[ppp]	1
dummy 1	0

Anyone have any idea what's wrong?

TIA,

Dwarf
