Bug#2517: dpkg-1.0.17.nondebbin.tar.gz overwrites old dpkg database info :(

You're not supposed to install dpkg-1.0.17.nondebbin.tar.gz on
a Debian system.  That's why it's called nondebbin.

It should have been in a fairly obscure directory to stop you doing
this.

No, just restore a backup of your /var/lib/dpkg/status file (you'll
find that there are quite a few lying around there - pick the most
recent).

I'm closing this bug report, because I think it's really just pilot
error.
