Is there a distinction between this From: line and what is supposed to be used
for outgoing mail (/etc/mailname)? If not, the configuration ought to use
it. (Symlink /etc/news/whoami -> ../mailname ?)

In any case, there is also a typo:

| /etc/news/whoami installed.
| /etc/news/organization installed.
| /etc/news.inn.conf updated.
