Why isn't Motif broken down into run-time and devel libraries?  It would
seem beneficial to the people who wrote the libs in the first place because
it would make it more appealing for others to write apps using the devel
versions.

Having a freely-distributable shared run-time library isn't any
different that providing a royalty-free license for static linkage,
that I can see.

Has anybody discussed this with the library authors?
