I got libc to build all the way through on my system yesterday. It sounds
like you need to upgrade your "gcc" package, maybe others as well. I'd suggest
you make sure they are all up-to-date with the ELF development sources before
you try to build libc.

I did have to comment out a definition of struct timespec in
include/pthread/mit/sys/timers.h, and there were a lot of warnings, mostly
connected with a few prototypes in header files.
