Bug#2235: emacs eats man pages

I can support this claim; I have had the same problems. It also happens
sometimes from running a subprocess such as M-x compile... although usually
the output is truncated only when the compile fails (and there are a lot of
error messages spewed just before the process terminates.)

I hadn't noticed this problem before I started using 1.3.x kernels, so perhaps
it's related to a kernel change. I'm currently using 1.3.56.
