This is a shell quoting bug in Python-1.2/Modules/makesetup, after
replacing double quotes with single ones to read

	NL='\\\n'

the packages compiles well.

Here you missed 2 messages from makesetup complaining about illegal
temporary sed command files

> Makefile:1: *** missing separator.  Stop.

I'll upload the package tomorrow from a machine with better
connectivity than my home box.
