Hi guys,
I think I am done with ogre-14, so I would need someone to review and upload. I tried to compile sight package with this new version, so I will update the dependency if ogre-14 is accepted in testing.
The only thing that annoys me a bit is that I had to disable EGL support for windowing in favor of GLX. As far as I understand, EGL is required for wayland, but sight_viewer, the only Ogre application I can run so far, could not initialize the OpenGL context/surface properly. There might be a bug in Ogre as discussed here : https://forums.ogre3d.org/viewtopic.php?p=558122#p558122
As Paroj, the Ogre maintainer mentioned, the version bump itself is already worth it. I promise I can work on that topic afterwards if you think it is better to provide EGL support.
Last, comparing to the part of the rework of Simon regarding library versioning, I switched back to only keep the major number. For me, we should not expect ABI breaking in minor versions nor patch versions. By the way ,I kept his entry in the changelog because his contribution is huge but maybe it should be grouped with mine because the version 13 was never released ?
Thanks in advance for your comments and help.
Cheers,

Hi Antoine, hi Andreas,
So far so good, Antoine gave me access earlier today to the repository and I was able to push what I've done a few months ago. I will update to the latest version of Ogre tomorrow and will proceed with the update, then I'll probably need some review. I'll let you know.
Thank you very much !

I think to start, I need credentials to access the ogre repository on salsa.debian.org. My login is: fbridault-guest I guess I can then proceed by pushing a new ogre-1.14 branch ? I'm not so sure about what am I supposed to do with the upstream and pristine-tar branch. Do I need to make copies ? Or do we need a forked repository ? I think that's where I am a bit lost. Feedback for improvement will be welcome of course. But, I am not a Debian Developer, so far I am only the maintainer of the package Sight. I used to maintain the package with the Debian team, handling most updates from upstream. Maybe I made a shortcut thinking I could do the same for Ogre 1.14. If yes, I would need credentials to be able to push and maybe create the repository on Salsa and if I understand, sponsorship. So I would need people to upload the ogre 1.14 package whenever needed, like the Med team does for me. Is it possible ?I have no experience with Ogre itself, but it seems you got that covered already. On the other hand, I have satisfying experience with Debian packaging, upload access, and good reasons for wanting Ogre to stay in a good shape in Debian. If all you need is someone to review and upload your updates to Ogre packaging, now and in the foreseeable future, you found me ;)
