Re: Possibility of Adding Diablo 2 (via AbyssEngine) to Debian

Good question, I’ll test it on Debian later.

I agree, the current state of the repository isn’t ideal, and I’ve also noticed
it hasn’t been very active recently. I understand your point about including
projects that might not be maintained or fully working yet.

I also really want to have Diablo 2 in Debian, so I appreciate your perspective
and will keep it in mind.

Maybe I should contact the upstream developers and ask if they plan to continue
development. I liked that the project is written in C and has an MIT license.

It for sure would be great!

Since it is under a free license but requires non-free data to run properly
(the original game data), it should go into contrib.

My only question before you spend time on it is: Does it actually work?

If the engine is still in a too early state to run the game, it might be a bit
too early to include it in Debian. Especially as it seems the repository has
not been active recently, so we can not be sure if it is still actively
developed.

PS: No need to CC: me for mails to the debian-devel-games list, I’m subscribed
to it already ;)
