Thanks for notifying me of this effort - That is correct, I made a
small try to package opensurge, but got tired of it and gave up after a
short while - I tried to package both the script engine and the actual
game in one package. 

I am not sure if it would be much usage, but if you would like I could
give you access to my packaging work (but it did package opensurge and
surgescript into one package).

In itself, those seems to be pretty easy to package, so I don't know if
my work would be useful.

And finally - it would be really nice to have another proper Allegro 5
game packaged in Debian.
