I don't have any strong preferences in this case but perhaps you can enhance
https://pkg-games.alioth.debian.org/game-data/ to incorporate some screenshots,
so that it looks more like http://blends.debian.org/games/tasks/finest? And then
a link to the wiki page and vice versa?

Yes, it is usually a combination of many different effects. By word of mouth, README,
Wiki pages, blog posts and so on.

The information in why.mdwn would be well suited for a "About" page on g-d-p's homepage.
Typical menu structure:

About | List of supported games | Links | Contact

Adding more yaml metadata to g-d-p to tackle those questions would be a
good idea. In most cases I would prefer links to wikipedia and to Debian's
own wiki where interested users could add additional information about the game.
That would also simplify the maintenance work a little. The links would appear
on the homepage and people could easily edit wiki pages if they wanted
to contribute new information to a game.
