Re:Re: Dawn-rpg

Hi all,
Just wanted to share a few things about dawn-rpg as someone clearly
interested to see this happening but came to know of few things so
sharing them for the would-be packagers and maintainers.

The project nows lives at http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/dawn-rpg
in a git repo. and a shadow of the documentation lives at

http://www.nongnu.org/dawn-rpg/index.html

The original/upstream of this is Lucas Sköldqvist<frusen@gungre.ch>
and recently I shared with him the plans of debian-games team and this
is what he shared :-

"I'm sorry to inform you that I don't work on the project anymore.

I've started going to University and my wife is having a child so
I have a lot to do!

Perhaps I will pick up the project in the future or maybe someone
else does.

Thank you for all your support and help,
Lucas"

So unless the packager, uploader and maintainer want to become also
the upstream of the game I would suggest to leave it as it is. There
is a better fish in the guise of valyriatear
(https://github.com/Bertram25/ValyriaTear) which is in the rpg genre,
development is active and there is substantial work and development
going on. Whatever has been shared till date is more than 2 hrs. of
good play and clearly more is in store ahead. See
http://valyriatear.blogspot.ch/ for details. Also the code is GPL
while graphics is either CC0 or CC-By both of which are easily
permissible to get the game in main.

Lastly I have been getting assertions in games and elsewhere which has
been reported as #721083 . An e.g. of the same using dawn-rpg .

~/games/dawn-rpg$ ./dawn-starter.sh
~/games/dawn-rpg ~/games/dawn-rpg
dawn-rpg: ../../../../../src/mesa/swrast/s_renderbuffer.c:584:
map_attachment: Assertion `srb->Map' failed.

EOBT

We are sorry, your game of Dawn crashed.

To help us debug the problem and make Dawn more stable, give the
following lines to the developers of Dawn, please.
The developers of Dawn can be reached on
https://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/dawn-rpg or in #dawn-rpg at
Freenode.
If possible add some text what you were doing when the game crashed or
how the crash can be reproduced.
Try to add the last line of the previous output (something from before
'converting the following backtrace') as well.

Thank you very much for your help!

This is with latest git upstream and I don't think the issue is at the
project side. Any hints on the bug welcome in #721083

Hopefully the above gives a heads-up to people who were looking to
bring it in debian.
