I know that it builds fine even with the 1.2.8 version, but during the 
development of the software I discovered a bug in SDL-mixer. After 
reporting it to the authors, the bug was fixed in version 1.2.12.
There is also non negligeable modifications of the behaviour of some 
routines.
So it builds with previous versions but it may crash at runtime.
