Hi,
I saw that you added Nikwi in the unstable version of Debian. Thanks for
adding the game there :-). However i saw that you only added the i386
version because -from what i read in the mailing list- you were worried
about the compatibility with the 64bit (amd64) version. Well, don't worry
- the game was actually developed in a 64bit debian system and it's fully
compatible :-).
The rdtsc stuff was added later when i was doing the (32bit) windows port
to figure out why it was slower there (rdtsc was supposed to tell me how
many cycles the cpu was spending on some parts). It isn't used anywhere
inside the game, which uses SDL's SDL_Ticks to get the time. I just forgot
about it when i released the source.
Also i saw that you had some problems when modifying the game to work with
Debian's packaging. I didn't got the source package, only the binary
(which i manually extracted to see what's in there - since my Debian is in
64bit mode). If you have any further problems with Nikwi please notify me.
Also please, if it is possible, remove the reference to "air jumping" from
the manpage. It was a bug in the pre-GPL (shareware) version of the game's
collision detection system which i presented as a feature :-]. It isn't
available in the GPL version.
Ah, btw, note that you may want to build Nikwi with the latest version of
UndeadScript:
http://www.slashstone.com/more/uscript/wip/uscript-1.0rc2-preview.tar.gz
The included version is very buggy and possibly unstable. The version
above is much faster and more robust than the version included with
Nikwi's source. Also it compiles cleanly with the latest version of GCC
included with amd64 Debian/unstable.
