I think it would be a good idea for upstream to follow the spec.  For
packagers, I think it is good to do whatever upstream does, so that
users who see multiple distributions don't get confused.

For us, this means we should try to move the games where we are
effectively upstream (I'm not sure if that's what you mean with "patched
games"), but not the others.  It doesn't hurt to tell upstream about it
though, as they might want to make the change themselves.
