There was a lot of discussion on d-mentors about this, and unfortunately I got a bit lost. I had the impression that Alexander Schmehl would sponsor your package, but maybe I misunderstood. I see that no upload was made. Do you still need a sponsor? How has the package come along? Do you have it online somewhere? Personally, I would prefer small, incremental changes and integration with the pkg-games team SVN repo. First, get the package infrastructure in shape according to the pkg-games team guidelines. (Maybe that's done already, I didn't check.) Second, if the upstream tarball has to be changed, preferably write a script to do it and include that in the Debian diff, so the sponsor can verify the repackaging. With those two steps done, you can start fixing bugs and tweaking the build. The point is to make it easy to see the purpose of each change, so that sponsoring becomes as easy and fast as possible -- then you won't have to be afraid that your sponsor(s) will take forever to make an upload.
