Bug#217486: gqview: Lost files when putting in a directory with > 128 ascii caracters

Package: gqview
Version: 1.3.2-1
Severity: grave
Tags: sid
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

When trying to move a picture to another directory (by right click, move)
and when this directory contains > 128 ASCII characters (like accents), I
get this kind of message when entering the directory :

** (gqview:30137): WARNING **: Invalid UTF8 string passed to
pango_layout_set_text()

And when I ask to move the picture to this directory, I get :

(gqview:30137): Gdk-WARNING **: Error converting from UTF-8 to
'ISO-8859-15': Invalid byte sequence in conversion input

The file may then disappear or the name may be modified (by appending
something at the end similar to the end of the directory name from the
accent, included).

Notice that I use the "G_BROKEN_FILENAMES" variable since my filesystem is
not UTF8-aware.

You may ask assistance on devel-french since this kind of problems have
already been reported here.
