Slink and Potato base.tgz contains all of /dev/sg* and /dev/scd*
(I don't know about the woody install system, sorry... I've not
tested yet...). So, we always have all /dev/sg* and /dev/sd* .

It is not concerned with whether there is any SCSI card or not.

Actually, SCSI card is not carried in the my sub PC, it has all of
/dev/sg* and /dev/scd* files, for example.

air:~$lspci | grep -i scsi
(of cause ISA SCSI cards are not installed ;-)
air:~$ls /dev/sg* /dev/scd*
/dev/scd0 /dev/scd13 /dev/scd3 /dev/scd8 /dev/sg11 /dev/sg16 /dev/sg6
/dev/scd1 /dev/scd14 /dev/scd4 /dev/scd9 /dev/sg12 /dev/sg2 /dev/sg7
/dev/scd10 /dev/scd15 /dev/scd5 /dev/sg0 /dev/sg13 /dev/sg3 /dev/sg8
/dev/scd11 /dev/scd16 /dev/scd6 /dev/sg1 /dev/sg14 /dev/sg4 /dev/sg9
/dev/scd12 /dev/scd2 /dev/scd7 /dev/sg10 /dev/sg15 /dev/sg5

But, I have noticed there is a situation that the MAKEDEV operation
is needed.

The Debian system, whitch is installed very very old version (bo? or
befor???). It has been used for a long long time with upgrading,
upgrading and upgrading many many times

Yes, he is Debian user of good lineage :-)

Perhaps, the system does not have /dev/sg* and /dev/scd*. So if
the xcdroast is installed on the system, he should make these device
files because xcdroast is needed these.

OK. I'll modifiy and upload the package today or tomorrow.
