   * I tried to work around #63970 ("weird behavior on sparc"), please test.
   * Don't fork 'tty' every time we print something.
   * Added logic to make it harder to submit a 'general' bug report, since
     I've been seeing a lot of (bogus instances of) them field with
     reportbug lately.
