Source: linuxconf
Binary: linuxconf linuxconf-dev linuxconf-i18n linuxconf-x
Architecture: source i386 all
Version: 1.16-1
Distribution: unstable
Urgency: low
Maintainer: Stefan Gybas <sgybas@debian.org>
Description:
 linuxconf - a powerful Linux administration kit
 linuxconf-dev - Development files for Linuxconf
 linuxconf-i18n - international language files for Linuxconf
 linuxconf-x - X11 GUI for Linuxconf
Changes:
 linuxconf (1.16-1) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * New upstream release
   * Upload to unstable instead of experimental
   * Use logrotate
   * Created /usr/sbin/update-linuxconf which enables all useful Linuxconf
     modules (for which a package is installed). This feature was
     previously only in Linuxconf's postinst.
   * Wrote a first version of a Debian module:
     - Users are now created, modified and deleted using useradd, usermod
       and userdel instead of directly modifying /etc/passwd (the main part
       of this code was taken from the Red Hat module)
     - The host name in "Networking/Basic host information" is now read and
       written from/to /etc/hostname
     - The GMT setting in "Control/date & time" is now read and written
       from/to /etc/defaults/rcS
     - Users are now authenticated using PAM (again, most of this code is
       taken from the Red Hat module)
     - Debian is now markd as a "sysvenhanced" distribution (although this
       is not correct). Linuxconf will now forget almost all internal rules
       for updating the system and use Debian's init scripts in /etc/init.d/
       with "force-reload" instead. This works currently for inetd, syslogd
       and apacke (you must enable the boot activator for this feature).
   * Created a new package: linuxconf-dev containing liblinuxconf.a and all
     required header files for writing your own modules.
   * Removed linuxconf-boot package (the boot activator was mainly in a
     different package because it conflicted with file-rc; Linuxconf now
     uses the enhanced SysV init tags so it now also conflicts with
     file-rc). To install the boot activator now just call
     /usr/sbin/update-linuxconf install-boot and
     /usr/sbin/update-linuxconf install-askrunlevel (this is not done
     automatically in the postinst!)
   * Renamed linuxconf-locale to linuxconf-i18n (this is shorter and seems
     to be more consistent with tcsh-i18n and kdebase-i18n - maybe this
     scheme should be added to our policy)
   * Updated README.Debian
