freetype 1.1-1998-09-12 was actually some intermediate form of
freetype 1.2pre upstream, and 1.2 is the official release.
Between September and the official release of freetype 1.2 in November, the
changes were mostly bug fixes. I thought that it is better to have an
official release than a pre-release/developmental-snapshot in Slink. :-)
Besides, it works just fine. :-) (The major soname for libttf is still
"2").

If you disagree, that's okay, because it is a borderline case. :-)

Cheers,

Anthony
