e2fsprogs 1.10-8 shows problem with deps ?
Could someone have a look at e2fsprogs 1.10-8 (in Incoming on master) ?
It seems to me that the upgrade procedure from 1.10-7 shows a
problem with dpkg's handling of dependencies, but I'm not sure the
problem doesn't come from me...
Here's what happens:
e2fsprogs_1.10-7 depends on comerr2_1.10-7
(only package depending on comerr2)
e2fsprogsg_1.10-8 depends on comerr2g_1.10-8
replaces/conflicts e2fsprogs
comerr2g replaces/conflicts comerr2
e2fsprogs, e2fsprogsg, comerr2g are all essential packages, comerr2 is
not.
When asking to upgrade the whole, after flagging all 1.10-7 packages
for purge, dpkg barfs when asked to install comerr2g:
- it says it is OK to remove e2fsprogs
- then it says it cannot remove comerr2, without saying why. Maybe it
forgot it just decided to remove essentail package e2fsprogs ?
Nonetheless, installing e2fslibsg does remove e2fsprogs, after which
removal installing comerr2g works fine.
Is this really a flaw in dpkg, or did I wrote something wrong ?
