Bits from the release team: Jessie Freeze

The release team is pleased to announce that Debian 8.0 "Jessie" is frozen.
Further updates to this release will be restricted to bug fixes only.

Freeze policy
=============

The canonical freeze policy can be found at <POLICY>.

Valid candidates for unblocks are divided into five categories. Please ensure
that you are familiar with the policy and the permitted changes.

The dates stated in the policy are guidelines. We reserve the right to adjust
them along the way, for example if the supply of candidates dries up.

Requesting an Unblock
=====================

Uploads satisfying the freeze policy are eligible for unblocks. Please request
an unblock (or t-p-u approval) by filing a bug against release.debian.org
only, and not a post to the mailing list or IRC.

You MUST include:

  * appropriate tags (use reportbug)
  * justification
  * _Debian_ bug numbers and their severities
  * the changelog entry/entries
  * a _source_ debdiff between Jessie and the uploaded or proposed package

These requirements are so that we can process requests quickly and efficiently,
without round-trips.

Please remove auto-generated files from diffs. Changelogs MUST reflect
all changes in the package, however trivial they seem.

Pre-approvals
=============

You do not need pre-approval to upload to unstable if your changes comply with
the freeze policy. That said, feel free to ask if you're unsure.

Auto-removals
=============

For the avoidance of doubt, auto-removals on the basis of RC bugs will continue
throughout the freeze. If necessary, a manual removal may take place before
the auto-removal deadline has passed, so please stay on top of RC bugs.

Uploads to unstable
===================

Since many updates (hopefully, the vast majority) will be via unstable,
changes there can be disruptive if they would be unsuitable for Jessie.
Please be mindful of this, particularly if you maintain a library or key
package.

RC Bugs Status
==============

At 18:00 UTC, there were 310 RC bugs affecting Jessie.
